CALIFORNIA HERE WE COME

We say good-bye to Flagstaff, AZ  this Easter morning, we couldn’t think of a more beautiful place to start our day.

Blue has checked out our route for today and set the Garmin,  so California here we come!

Basically, this is a travel day for us.  We have approximately 12 hours of driving time left before we reach Yosemite, where we will be for 6 days.  We will travel 6 hours today to Barstow, CA.

As we leave AZ, it's about 52 degrees and the winds are high.  Going to be great for our gas mileage.

Below are some of our pictures taken from the car.  You will notice a change in the landscape as we travel through AZ and get closer to CA.

Out in the middle of the desert, you would think that nothing could grow, but Daniel saw these pretty cactus and I took a picture of a tree

And we are almost to California....you can see the mountains in the distance.

And we made it

Just after crossing the CA state line, all vehicles had to stop at an inspection station.  We weren't sure what was going on, but as we approached, were told to go on.  Some vehicles looked like they were being searched.  The only time I've seen this is at border cities, I didn't know CA was doing this.

Traveling into CA, we could see smog (do they still call it smog?) all over the mountains, and there were sand storms everywhere.  You may can tell from some of the pictures below.

We've had a great trip today and finally arrived in Barstow, CA around 6pm.  Hope everyone had a wonderful Easter, I know we did.  Good Night.
